Outline of the First Aid at Work course
The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work. These Regulations apply to all workplaces including those with five or fewer employees and to the self-employed. The First Aid at Work course complies with the Statutory requirements as laid down in the Health & Safety at Work Act 1981. It is practical, interactive and intensive, providing plenty of opportunity to practice before an externally assessed assessment on the final day.

- Recognition and Monitoring Vital Signs
- Gathering a History
- Incident management and Systems First Aid
- Management of the unconscious casualty
- Control of external bleeding
- Recognition and management of shock
- CPR & blocked airway resuscitation
- Sprains, strains, fractures and dislocations
- Head injuries
- Neck and spinal injuries
- Chest, abdomen, pelvis & thigh injuries
- Anaphylactic Shock
- Common medical emergencies
- Burns, poisons, eye injuries
- First Aid at Work responsibilities
- First aid kits
- Casualty handover to emergency services
- 4 part exam assessed by external examiners
